When a family of six traded New York for West Menlo Park, they brought a deep love of traditional Southern design with them. The brief was to honor that classic foundation without letting it feel stuffy. Over nearly three years, from the first architectural drawings on, Aly layered in playful pattern and bold color to give the home real energy. Space is hard to come by in Menlo Park, so the renovation reworked the layout to give all four children their own room and bath, moved the laundry in from the garage, and carved out a dedicated office. A blue palette warmed with brass runs throughout, alongside custom touches at every turn: AGD custom paint colors, antique mirror backsplashes, built-ins, a bespoke hood design, and custom furniture.
