Well Played: The Game Room

Room #15

In this sunlit game room, Well Played, Aly Gay Design brings her love of whimsical pattern play to life, layering bold color with elevated detail. From custom engraved switchplates that intuitively guide even the newest guest, this space is designed to evoke joy — setting the stage for spontaneous gatherings and spirited competition.

Anchoring the room is a custom game table by Oomph Home, inviting guests to pull up a chair, shuffle the tiles, and dive right in. While Mahjong lies at the heart of the design, a custom curved sofa offers a place for friends and family to gather, unwind, and share the stories of the day. Whether through a game of cards, dominos, or the ever-elusive Monopoly, Well Played offers something for everyone. This is a space full of personality and warmth, ready for lighthearted fun.. The kind of room that draws you in and gently insists you stay — just one more game, one more story, one more smile.

Well Played, Ladies: A Sunlit Hideaway

Room #16

Tucked just out of sight, Well Played, Ladies reveals itself like a well-kept secret — unexpected, sunlit, and quietly indulgent. Just beyond the game room, the space offers an immediate shift in tempo: a stolen moment from the day, designed for connection where time feels negotiable. Cozy up on the custom corner settee and share stories of the games played, or today's hot topics,

Aly wanted to create a space where when the play ends, the staying begins. The space is equal parts playful and refined, a feminine retreat designed for post-game toasts, quiet moments and spontaneous gossip sessions that stretch longer than planned. Intimate yet bright, this hideaway captures the joy of gathering without agenda—a celebration of friendships, where the true luxury is being together.

Special Thanks

I can hardly put into words what an incredible adventure it has been to work alongside such extraordinarily talented designers during this year's Showcase!  Walking through the spaces from their beginnings to witnessing their transformation has been nothing short of magical. I have always held deep admiration for the creativity and artisanship showcased each year, and to now be part of such a cherished San Francisco tradition is truly humbling.

None of this would have been possible without my incredible AGD team. I am endlessly grateful for the dedication, partnership, and hard work—Roger, Jairo, Beto, Liz and Reed, thank you for showing up every single day with such passion and commitment. Thank you to the world's most amazing clients for choosing AGD to walk alongside you while we create magic, we are so incredibly lucky for each and every one of you.

A very heartfelt thank you to the incredible Showcase team for giving me the opportunity to live a dream I have held for quite some time. And finally, thank you to my husband, kiddos, family and friends for being the most supportive cheerleaders and champions.

Behind the Scenes

Meet Aly

Originally from the south, Aly blends her Southern style with a crisp West Coast edge in every project. Her work celebrates color, texture, and pattern layered with a touch of whimsy to create customized livable spaces.

At the heart of each design is a commitment to telling the story of the people who live there. Aly Gay Design works closely with clients to bring personal meaning into the home, crafting spaces that feel soulful, inviting, and playful. Through thoughtful transitional design and an unwavering attention to detail each home is layered with warmth, history, and intention.

Aly is often heard quipping, “An antique in every room.” Whether it’s a travel-found trinket, a cherished piece of art, or your grandmother’s desk, every space should have a story to tell. These stories come to life through highly collaborative partnerships with architects, builders, and custom craftsmen, resulting in homes with exceptional flow, function, and timeless appeal.
